Are the Detroit Pistons going to trade Jerami Grant?

That is the big question in Detroit and the answer is “I’m still not sure.”

At this point, I wouldn’t be surprised either way, but I am leaning towards Grant not being moved.

The calls for Grant have reportedly cooled, as the Pistons were clearly asking for a boatload in return and may now realize that isn’t going to happen.

Some team could get desperate in the final hours or Detroit could lower their asking price, but I’ve said all along that the Pistons have all of the leverage here and don’t have to do anything.

Keeping Grant and extending him long term is also an option, especially if he shows he can adjust his game to fit with Cade Cunningham and Saddiq Bey.

There are still teams like the Bulls, Lakers, Mavericks, Hawks and Wizards who have consistently shown interest in Grant, but most of them either don’t have enough to get it done, or aren’t willing to give up what the Pistons are asking.

It could be a quiet deadline for the Pistons, which might not be the worst thing, as it would allow them to evaluate the market again in the offseason after the draft and free agency.

We will know more soon, but right now, it’s looking like fans that were hoping for sweeping change might be disappointed.
