The fit with Jerami Grant

The single most important thing over the last part of the season is for the Pistons to figure out the fit with Jerami Grant with the young core.

The Pistons didn’t end up trading Grant after a ton of rumors and there was a lot of talk in his absence about how he ultimately fits with Cade Cunningham.

The rest of the season is about figuring this out, as Detroit can still move Grant in the offseason if they think it isn’t working.

If things are working and Grant shows he can adjust his game to have a less ball-dominant role, then Detroit has to make the decision about an extension.

The post All-Star break games are an extended tryout for Grant with this team. If he can be effective off the ball with Cade, then there is a chance he stays, and if not, those trade rumors are going to be even louder in the offseason.

This last stretch of games will determine a big part of the Pistons’ future, so even if they are out of the playoff race, there is still plenty we need to see.
