Questions for the Detroit Pistons: The veterans

Kelly Olynyk

Can Olnyk work effectively with Killian and Bagley III? I like the idea of Killian Hayes running pick and roll with Bagley III with Kelly Olynyk playing off ball and drawing the other big away from the basket.

This would give Bagley and Hayes room to operate and could make Olynyk the beneficiary of a lot of wide-open looks.

Olynyk has had a disappointing season because of injuries, but he could be a valuable bench piece moving forward if he can carve out a stretch role with Bagley.

Jerami Grant

Can Grant buy-into a different role? To me, the biggest question hanging over the season is whether Grant is willing and able to change his role to stay on the Detroit Pistons.

On one hand, he seems like a team player and a guy who could fit in with just about any roster, as he did on the Olympic team. Grant was specifically requested by several players on the team, so we know how he is viewed around the league.

But he came to Detroit to be “the man” which is no longer the case, so will he be happy with a lesser role on what will still be a very young and rebuilding team?

If this fit isn’t clear, Jerami Grant will be traded in the offseason.
