2022 NBA Mock Draft: Pick #6
Shaedon Sharpe is the biggest mystery of the 2022 NBA Draft because he has yet to play a single minute for Kentucky this season after joining the team at midseason.
It’s possible he will stay in college for another year, but if not, scouts are salivating over his combination of athleticism and shot making, and if he had played in college this season, there is a good chance he’d be in the discussion for the number one pick.
He was the consensus number one high school player in the country this season even though he didn’t play, and no guy in that position has ever fallen out of the top-10 of the NBA Draft.
But considering no one has seen him play outside of high school and exhibitions, teams are going to have to put a lot of stock in his team workouts, which is always a risk, as some guys look great in workouts but not so much against elite competition.
But the Kings already have two young guards and two bigs in Sabonis and Holmes, so taking a chance on a high-upside guy who has a chance to be the best player in this draft is probably smart.
Of course, knowing the Kangz, they will find some way to mess it up, but I do like them to reach here since there isn’t a clear alternative.
