Detroit Pistons: Marvin Bagley’s O and Isaiah Stewart’s D

If the Detroit Pistons could just combine the two young centers they have into one player, he’d probably be one of the top big men in the league.

Marvin Bagley III had another good offensive game, scoring 15 points and adding eight rebounds, three of which were on the offensive end.

But his defense was once again lacking and the Clippers won the battle of points in the paint 48-44, which was one of the differences in the game.

The Pistons have been outscored in the paint every game since Isaiah Stewart went out with injury.

Stewart has been an underrated defender this season, challenging the 6th-most shots in the NBA before his injury, but he’s been limited offensively in year two as he focused on being the anchor of the defense.

He still has a ways to go, but his defense is getting there, while Bagley III”s offense shines at times but his defense is lacking.

It will be interesting to see how the Detroit Pistons use these two players once Stewart returns and into the future, as they have differing skill sets that could complement one another.
