The Detroit Pistons still have work to do this season but will be looking forward to the draft lottery and the NBA Draft.
The NBA announced some important dates and locations for the events surrounding the Draft, including the combine, lottery and Draft itself.
- Draft Combine: May 16-22 in Chicago
- Draft Lottery: May 17 in Chicago
- NBA Draft: June 23 in Brooklyn
All of these events will be held in person and fans will be able to attend.
The Detroit Pistons are hoping the lottery balls fall their way again this season, as they would love to add another top-3 pick to Cade Cunningham, Saddiq Bey and Isaiah Stewart, which could give the one of the best young cores in the NBA.
So where do the Detroit Pistons stand with 13 games left in the season?
Detroit Pistons lottery odds with 13 games remaining
After losing four in a row, the Detroit Pistons still find themselves with the third-worst record, though they are now just a half game ahead of both Houston and Orlando, who are in a virtual tie for the worst record in the NBA.
This gives Detroit a 52.1% chance to stay in the top-4 of the NBA Draft with a 14 percent chance at the number one pick overall.
In their current position they have a 26 percent chance at the 6th pick (highest odds of any single pick) and a seven percent chance to fall all of the way to 7th overall.
The Pistons have a game coming up against Orlando, and though I never cheer for tanking, it might not be the worst time to lose a game and try to secure better odds.
The team with the worst record is guaranteed a top-5 pick, which is really the only advantage to achieving that dubious result.
The Pistons have 13 more games left in the 2021-22 season and the race to the bottom will be almost as interesting as the one at the top, as there are three teams battling for potential lottery position.
