Cade Cunningham and the Detroit Pistons had a recent streak ended by the short handed Trail Blazers in a game they’d rather forget.

Detroit was missing a few players, including Jerami Grant, but Portland had most of their team out with injury, so this was a game the Pistons probably should have won.

It ended an incredible streak of covers, as Detroit was 14-0-1 against the spread before blowing it at home against Portland in a game in which they were actually favored by 7.5 points.

The Pistons will be back to their more comfortable position of underdog tonight and want to redeem themselves against the Hawks, who beat the Knicks last night on the road and will be on the second game of a back-to-back tonight in Detroit.

Cade Cunningham hopes to bounce back, as he had one of his worst games of the season even though he scored 25 points.

He added a whopping nine turnovers, and had this to say after the game:

"“Almost had a double-double with turnovers. Those are unacceptable…No turnover is acceptable, but that’s beyond that.”"

The Pistons beat the Hawks in overtime in their last meeting, with Detroit holding Trae Young to just 14 points, his second-lowest total of the season. He scored 45 in Madison Square Garden last night, so Detroit will need to make him work and hope tired legs contribute to another poor night shooting.

Will the Pistons get back on track at home?

Detroit Pistons vs. Atlanta Hawks: Odds, spread, over/under, best bets and Cade Cunningham’s big night

According to WynnBET, the Pistons are five point underdogs at home tonight at Little Caesar’s Arena.

I absolutely love the Pistons to cover this spread, as the only one they haven’t covered in their last 16 games was the loss to Portland in which they were favored.

After a lackluster performance against the Trail Blazers in which they looked disengaged for most of the first quarter, I expect the Pistons to come out with energy tonight and at least keep it close against the Hawks.

The money lines are set at -220 for Atlanta and +180 for Detroit, but I would stick with the points.

The over/under is a combined 226.5 and I like the under in this one. The two teams combined for 223 points in their last meeting and tonight Atlanta could be fighting weary legs, so I’d take the points with the under and hope for a close, low scoring game that ends around 112-108.

I think Cade Cunningham is going to go off tonight, in fact, I am making it my lock of the day, as he was angry with himself after the last game and wants to come through for his team. The Hawks don’t really have anyone who can guard him so Cunningham could have his biggest game of the season. I think he’ll have a 30-point night.

Marvin Bagley III had a big game the last time these two faced off and has a chance to do it again, as he’ll be defended by Danilo Gallinari at times and should be able to dominate him in the post.
