Cade Cunningham and the Detroit Pistons have been opening some eyes lately even though they aren’t winning.
The Pistons haven’t been blown out since the middle of February, have been close in every game and Cade Cunningham has been putting up All-Star numbers.
Kevin Durant noticed, and said he thinks Detroit will be a “force to be reckoned with soon,” and I agree, as they have the young star, role players, cap space and draft assets to significantly improve this offseason.
But the Pistons have six games remaining in this season to worry about, two against these Philadelphia 76ers, starting tonight in Detroit.
While the Pistons are playing for lottery odds (they are currently a half game ahead of Houston and Orlando for the worst record), the 76ers are playing for playoff position. They are currently tied for the 3rd seed with the Celtics, but could still move up or down, as there are five teams bunched together.
Cade Cunningham is coming off a 34-point effort against the Nets where he went toe-to-toe with Kevin Durant and didn’t miss a beat. He hopes to add another strong effort to his resume tonight to continue to show that he is the best rookie player even if he is not on the best team.
Detroit Pistons vs. Philadelphia 76ers: Odds, spread, over/under, Cade Cunningham and best bets
According to WynnBET, the Pistons are 10.5 point underdogs at home against the 76ers.
I honestly don’t think anyone watches Detroit, otherwise I can’t see how this line is so high. The Pistons have failed to cover the spread ONCE in their last 20 games, so at this point, they are the best bet in the NBA.
It’s been awhile since they have lost by double digits, and I love them to cover again tonight. If you gamble, this is free money at this point.
The money lines are set at +425 for the Pistons and -575 for the 76ers, but ignore those and take the points.
Detroit will be without Jerami Grant and Hamidou Diallo, but should still be able to keep it close at home.
The over/under is a combined 222.5, which seems high to me considering these two teams only score 213 combined on average while allowing 219 between them. I’d take Detroit to cover in yet another close game.
Cade Cunningham is your obvious choice for daily fantasy bets with Grant sidelined, especially the streaky Saddiq Bey in a bit of a slump.
The bigs will have their hands full with Joel Embiid, so I’d stay away from them unless you like Marvin Bagley III’s matchup with Tobias Harris, which I do.
Killian Hayes could get a start tonight with Cory Joseph listed as questionable, so he could be your low-cost play of the day, as he’s been quietly playing well lately off the bench.
Frank Jackson looks to be getting more dialed in and is due for a big game, and is another low-cost possibility.
