The Detroit Pistons are desperate for 3-point shooting and one 2022 NBA Draft prospect is shooting his way up the draft boards.

Caleb Love of North Carolina is a 6-foot-4 sophomore point guard, who may have played well enough in the tournament make himself into a possible draft pick.

He is a guy who is not on a ton of draft boards, as he obviously hasn’t declared yet, and the ones you do find him on generally have him going late in the second round.

The Pistons will have what is now the 45th pick in the 2022 NBA Draft and could look for a guy like Love, who has exploded for 24 points per game in the NCAA Tournament while leading his team to the Championship.

Love scored 30 against UCLA, hitting 6-of-13 from long range, and then dropped 28 on Duke to end Coach K’s illustrious career.

So what could he potentially offer the Detroit Pistons as a second-round pick in the 2022 NBA Draft?

Pistons draft: Caleb Love can shoot

The Detroit Pistons are one of the worst 3-point shooting teams in NBA, so while they certainly don’t need another point guard, the recent signing of Carsen Edwards shows they will take shooting wherever they can get it.

Love is a guy who projects to have a plus 3-point shot, as he knocked down 37 percent this season on 6.5 attempts per game.

He also shoots nearly 87 percent from the free-throw line, another good indication of a player’s potential as a shooter.

He’s not a great playmaker, but does have good size for the position, so will probably be a combo-guard if he makes it to the next level.

His size is something most of the Pistons’ current guards don’t have, as Cory Joseph, Saben Lee, Frank Jackson and Carsen Edwards are all smaller.

For Love to get consideration in the second round of the 2022 NBA Draft, he would have to have a lights-out shooting workout and show teams that he can be a 40+ percent shooter at the next level.

He’s a long shot to end up on the Detroit Pistons, but Love has scored his way into contention for the second round if he wants to come out and another strong shooting performance in the National Championship could get him a look.
