The Detroit Pistons were one of the worst shooting teams in the NBA this season, and could look to the 2022 NBA Draft to bolster their shooting.
The Pistons were last or nearly last in just about every offensive category this season, so getting some shooters will be a priority for the offseason, especially guys who can hit 3-point shots and create space for Cade Cunningham to operate.
In addition to their top-7 lottery pick, the Pistons own the 46th pick in 2022 NBA Draft, and there are some intriguing and talented prospects in that range.
We’ve mostly talked about wings so far, including a 3-and-D prospect out of St. John’s, an efficient scorer from Wake Forest and a versatile wing prospect out of Santa Clara.
Today we will shift focus onto an interesting guard prospect, and the first international player in our second-round series.
Detroit Pistons draft: Matteo Spagnolo
Spagnolo is an Italian combo guard prospect who is projected to go in the middle of the second round of the 2022 NBA Draft.
He currently plays for Cremona in the top Italian league, where he averaged 12.2 points, 2.6 assists and 3.5 rebounds in 25 games.
He is still just 19-years-old but already has professional experience, so he should be a little more seasoned than some of the same-aged college prospects in his draft range.
He is 6-foot-4, 194 lbs. and though there are some big question marks about his game, he offers some skills that would undoubtedly help the Detroit Pistons.
Here are Spanolo’s strengths and weakness, as well as how he would fit in with the Pistons.
