Detroit Pistons: Trade for Joe Harris of the Nets

Any trade for Joe Harris will depend largely on what the Nets hope to achieve by trading him. Do they want a cheaper replacement, a guy who is a better fit, cap relief or would they want draft compensation?

There is one trade out there that makes a lot of sense for both teams:

In this trade, the Detroit Pistons get an arguably better player in exchange for taking on Harris’ guaranteed money.

This one makes sense on paper, as both players are around the same age and seemingly better fits, as the Pistons need more shooting and the Nets need big-man depth, especially if LaMarcus Aldridge, Andre Drummond and Nic Claxton don’t return.

Of course, if the Nets didn’t have any interest in Olynyk, the Pistons could just eat Harris’ entire salary with their cap space and not send a player back, which would save the Nets some money and let them recoup a pick.

If the Nets just wanted payroll relief, they could send Harris out in exchange for a second-round pick or two and that $18.5 million owed to Harris next season.

So who would say no?
