The NBA Draft Lottery is here! Fans of the Detroit Pistons have been waiting for a long time for this day, as we finally get to see if all of that losing will bring in another top talent to put around Cade Cunningham.

This is the most important offseason in years for Detroit, as they finally have their star and a chance to add more impact talent around him in the 2022 NBA Draft, free agency and trades.

Last year, the Detroit Pistons had the same odds and landed the #1 pick, something fans hope (and some even pray) will happen again.

One of the things I love about sports is how otherwise logical humans throw that all out the window in favor of terms like “Karma,” and “Lottery Gods,” while using their favorite good luck charms and doing whatever weird thing is part of their superstition.

Which is why I (an otherwise logical person who does not believe in fate, luck or magic outside of sports) was dead serious when I asked fans what I should wear to this year’s NBA Draft Lottery, the same stuff from last season or something new?

I made my decision, but am not going to reveal it in case the “Lottery Gods” are listening and think I am not being humble enough.

Is anyone else like this or should I seek help?

Detroit Pistons: What is your go-to superstition?

This got me thinking about all of the stupid things we fans do in an attempt to bring good favor to our teams.

We’ve all tried rally caps, sitting in a specific chair or maybe using an article of clothing as good luck.

Personally, I tend to wear the same clothes if something good happens to my team, knock on wood three times whenever I say something like “We need Beef Stew to make these free throws,” and occasionally say a prayer to George Blaha.

I’ve been known to eat the same meals for days in a row during the playoffs and to not change my routine at all, down to the smallest detail.

It’s pretty silly, but I think it’s just a way to try and get some amount of control over an uncontrollable situation.

But I am curious, what is your favorite superstition? What weird things do you do to bring luck to your team? Or do you think some of us are just loons who need to realize our socks have little or no effect on the outcome of a game? (THEY DO HOW DARE YOU?!)

Reveal your superstitions in the comments and I promise we won’t make fun of you too much.
