The Detroit Pistons will look for a sleeper in the 2nd-round of the 2022 NBA Draft, where they will have the 46th pick.

The Pistons were able to find a guy in Isaiah Livers in the second round last season who now looks like a future part of the rotation.

The second round is often a place to look for international prospects and there are some good ones this season, including Hugo Besson from France, who most recently played for the New Zealand Breakers in the Australian league.

He’s an entertaining prospect who could be a fit for the Detroit Pistons if he is still there in the 2nd round of the 2022 NBA Draft.

Pistons draft: Hugo Besson’s strengths and weaknesses

Hugo Besson is a 6-foot-5 (measured in shoes at the combine) skilled point guard, who is creative offensively and can get buckets in bunches.

He averaged 13.9 points, four rebounds and 2.5 assists for the Breakers, who have produced some NBA talent in the past.

Besson is a flashy player with great handles, and you can see in this highlight that he has hops and knows how to finish once he gets to the rim.

He only shot 30 percent from 3-point range but that was on high volume, so he profiles as a guy who will eventually be more accurate.

Besson is probably going to struggle staying in front of guards in the NBA, so he’ll have to show that he can defend enough to stay on the floor.

2022 NBA Draft: Hugo Besson’s fit on the Detroit Pistons

The Pistons don’t necessarily need another point guard, but they do need scoring and Besson can score. If he improves as a 3-point shooter he could be a guy who comes off the bench and creates with his dribble penetration and gets quick points.

The Pistons may not be as set at guard as it appears, as Cory Joseph, Saben Lee, Carsen Edwards and Frank Jackson are not locks to be on the roster.

Besson is a combo guard who plays with some swagger and could be the type of “instant offense” player they hope Jackson to be.

It’s hard to see the Pistons taking a guard given their need for size, but if they don’t think some of those other guys are going to be around and that Besson has more upside, they could add another French player to the roster with Killian Hayes.
