Building the perfect offseason for the Detroit Pistons
The Detroit Pistons draft
The Detroit Pistons have two picks in the upcoming NBA Draft, the fifth pick and the 46th pick. While there is much debate among most teams about which player they should draft, there should be little to no discussion for the Pistons.
Jaden Ivey from Purdue.
Ivey is a solid scorer and defender as well, as he shot just shy of 36 percent from three in his sophomore season.
He can create his own shot and shots for others and would be the perfect fit next to rising stars Cade Cunningham and Saddiq Bey.
Ivey would also be a great fit alongside Killian Hayes as he would give him the space needed to create shots.
He is the best player available that is consistently left out of the conversation for being a top three pick and may carry that into his career as motivation.
Ivey isn’t the only guard that the Pistons could pick in the draft either.
A similarly sized guard out of Northern Iowa, AJ Green, would also be a good pick for this Detroit roster.
Green is capable of playing both guard positions and has a great shooting stroke as well, being near the top of the NCAA in free throw percentage and also shooting around 37 percent from three for his collegiate career as well.
Green also fits the underdog story as he is rarely talked about on the national stage due to the fact that he went to a smaller school in Iowa and isn’t overly athletic.
Drafting both of these guards would fill out the backcourt rotation in Detroit perfectly as they could fit in and contribute almost immediately.
The spacing for the Pistons would improve and the ball movement would continue. Both players have potential to be good defensive pieces at the NBA level as well.
