Detroit Pistons’ targets in the 2022 NBA Draft: Trading up for Jaden Ivey

 Jaden Ivey

After an explosive sophomore year, Ivey’s name has continued to generate buzz amongst NBA franchises, including the Detroit Pistons. As of right now, Detroit is rumored to be enamored with the 6-foot-4 guard, and if Sacramento has significant interest in him, the Pistons may choose to engage in the aforementioned deal that would allow them to move up a spot.

As of right now, Sacramento appears to have their backcourt of the future in place, with De’Aaron Fox and Davion Mitchell, but the Kings are an unpredictable franchise, to say the least.

Additionally, Sacramento could abide by the longstanding method of taking the best player available, regardless of the positional fit. If  Ivey is at the top of the Kings’ draft board at fourth, and the Pistons truly have their sights on drafting the Purdue star, swapping picks in a deal centered around Grant could benefit both sides in the near future, and possibly long-term.
