Detroit Pistons: Top-5 players in franchise history
Detroit Pistons: Top-5 players of all time
#3: Dennis Rodman
Stats: 8.8 points, 1.3 assists, and 11.5 rebounds per game spanning seven seasons with the Detroit Pistons.
The heart and soul of what made those two years of punching Michael Jordan in the face until it produced a championship. In their defense, it worked. As did their incredible defense, anchored by the Worm himself.
Many consider Rodman to be one of the greatest defenders of all-time despite his numbers never showing it. This is due to the fact that he invented the idea of effort with how hard he worked.
Rodman was a rebounding machine during his career leading the NBA in rebounding twice with the Pistons before going on to do it five more times in a row on the Spurs and Bulls in a seven-season streak of dominance on the glass.
Rodman only made two All-Star games in his career while making two All-NBA teams and winning two Defensive Player of the Year awards as well. All of these accomplishments came with the Detroit Pistons.
His numbers and accolades don’t jump out at anybody, but his on and off the court antics definitely do. I mean, we’re talking about a guy who came out as bisexual and married himself while being best friends with a dictator.
Rodman may have lived an interesting life outside of basketball, but while playing basketball, he just went out there and got his team wins.
