Detroit Pistons: Top-5 players in franchise history
Detroit Pistons: Top-5 players of all time
#2: Ben Wallace
Stats: 6.6 points, 1.5 assists, and 11.1 rebounds per game during his nine-year stint with the Detroit Pistons.
Big Ben Wallace was the best player on the “Goin’ to Work” Pistons team that bullied the Shaq and Kobe Lakers, as well as the LeBron James led Cavaliers.
Emphasis on the bullied part as the Pistons won in five despite the Lakers starting five consisting of Kobe Bryant, Shaquille O’Neal, Karl Malone, Gary Payton, and Rick Fox with Derek Fisher and Horace Grant off the bench.
While Chauncey Billups won the Finals MVP, it was Ben Wallace that led the team to the heights that this team achieved.
Wallace was named to four All-Star teams and won four Defensive Player of the Year awards, an NBA record.
Wallace also averaged over three blocks per game for a season on three separate occasions for the Pistons while also leading the league in rebounds per game twice.
Wallace truly embodied what it meant to be a Piston during his career as he worked hard, played defense, and made open shots. He deserves his spot in Springfield.
