The Detroit Pistons and Jerami Grant have been at the center of just about every NBA trade rumor this offseason.

Grant is entering the final season of his contract and some believe he is not part of the future plans, so it makes sense to move him if that is the case, as he will be an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season.

Every team from Portland, to Atlanta to the Miami Heat have been rumored to be interested in Grant, though none of them so far seem willing to meet Detroit’s asking price, which is reported to be high.

With the recent Christian Wood trade yielding a lackluster return for Houston, the market for Grant may never materialize, though he is a better all-around player and doesn’t have any of the red flags that Wood does after he butted heads with his coaches and was suspended by his own team.

But what are the Detroit Pistons looking for and are they going to find it?

Detroit Pistons: The price of a Jerami Grant trade

We’ve talked A LOT about possible Grant trades, as well as the risks and benefits of just extending him to a four-year deal.

The Pistons are clearly building around Cade Cunningham at this point, so reportedly want young talent and draft assets to move off Jerami Grant.

Most of the trade rumors we’ve heard about Grant have involved a young player and a pick, with teams like Portland and New Orleans possibly moving off their top-10 picks to secure his services.

What we haven’t seen much of are the big blockbuster type deals in which the Pistons take back money, which wouldn’t be prudent unless there was incentive.

That’s why this trade proposal with Philly is an outlier, as it is the type of blockbuster deal you would not expect the Detroit Pistons to be a part of.
