The Detroit Pistons are going to trade Killian Hayes!

I swear, there is nothing fans of the Detroit Pistons love more than to obsess over Killian Hayes. After the first win, the narrative was that Hayes wasn’t “aggressive enough,” a subjective measure that one can argue from either side.

After Hayes was not in the lineup for Summer League game number two, the story shifted to why that might be. Instead of going with Occam’s Razor and guessing that he was being held out to avoid injury after getting swatted in the face, or that maybe the Pistons are comfortable with Hayes after seeing him for two seasons in the NBA, some latched onto the idea that this meant the Pistons were going to trade him.

Look, they might. I have no idea what types of deals Troy Weaver is working on behind the scenes and Detroit could move the 20-year-old in the right kind of deal.

But I think it is far more likely that the Pistons want Killian Hayes to start the season completely healthy, which he hasn’t been for much of his young career.

I don’t mind a good conspiracy theory (as long as it doesn’t threaten to destroy democracy or anything) but I don’t think this is a sign they are going to trade Killian. Of course, now that I have said this he will probably be shipped out tomorrow, but for now, this take seems like a pretty big reach built on assumptions.
