Detroit Pistons: Marvin Bagley III starting at power forward

Another option would be to run with Beef Stew at center and Marvin Bagley III as the starting power forward.

This is probably my least favorite option, as the Pistons would lose Duren’s rim protection in the starting five and I think Bagley’s best role is as a offensive weapon off the bench.

Neither Stewart nor MBIII are proven shooters, so you would have just as many spacing issues as with Duren but without the blocks, as Bagley III is not a great defender.

The argument for Bagley III in the starting lineup is that it would give the Detroit Pistons a very athletic group, and that Stewart can still play more on the perimeter offensively, giving MBIII the run of the paint.

But that seems more like an argument for why Bagley III should come off the bench with Kelly Olynyk, as the two have complementary skills.

If the Pistons aren’t ready to throw Duren directly into the starting lineup, then the Bagley/Stewart front court seems like the most-likely option.
