Detroit Pistons: Who should start at power forward?
Detroit Pistons: Isaiah Livers starting at power forward
If Dwayne Casey wanted to insert more shooting into the starting five, then Isaiah Livers is certainly an option to start at forward with Saddiq Bey.
Livers has been one of the most impressive Pistons in Summer League on both ends, defending multiple spots, making the right reads and passes, and knocking down 3-point shots, a skill they definitely need around Cade Cunningham and Jaden Ivey.
Livers is a natural leader, which is evident by the way he communicates on the floor and leads the defense when he is out there. Putting him in the starting five would give the Pistons a pretty small group, especially with Stewart at center, but they are all versatile defenders who can cover a couple of spots.
This group would also create mismatches at the other end, so even if Livers doesn’t get the start, I think he’ll get plenty of run at the four when the Pistons play small-ball.
Livers looks poised to make a big leap this season and may end up being the prize of Troy Weaver’s draft picks, as he came in the second round and should be a big part of the rotation this season.
