Detroit Pistons: Reasons to gut out the Summer League
Is there a sleeper?
One of the hopes of Summer League is that a team walks away impressed enough by a fringe player to maybe give them a shot down the line.
Luka Garza was able to work his way into a two-way deal and eventually a full contract mostly through his efforts in Summer League, so is there another sleeper who might end up playing some minutes for the Detroit Pistons at some point this season?
So far the best bet appears to be Stanley Umude out of Arkansas, whose defense and 3-point shooting could be enough to get him a longer look.
He already signed an Exhibit 10 contract, which means we will see him in training camp, so he will have a chance to compete and build upon what he has shown in Summer League where he has averaged 13 points per game and shot over 55 percent from long range.
Arkansas fans love this guy, so I am curious to see if he can win over anyone in the Pistons’ front office.
