Detroit Pistons: Predictions for individual awards

MVP – Cade Cunningham

Micheal Jordan. Hakeem Olajuwon. Giannis Antetokounmpo. His Airness. The Dream. The Greek Freak. The only three players to win MVP and DPOY in the same season, and Cade Cunningham is going to join their company.

Well, not quite. Cunningham will probably only win both honors within his team, but it’s still impressive, right? The MVP goes to the best player, although offense tends to be weighed more in consideration.

Of the current Detroit Pistons, Cunningham led them in points, shots, shots made, and assists. There is no one who is even close to him. The offense will run through him, he will be the stopper on defense, and he will have an absolute green light to shoot, penetrate, and create. When he is on the floor, he will be getting the ball. The defense will know it, but they won’t be able to stop him.

Cade will have the weapons to make plays, but don’t get it twisted. When he needs or wants to score, he will, pretty much every time. He could easily average 25 points and six assists, all while playing solid defense and being far and away the best player on the team.

There aren’t many ways to say it: no one else stands a chance. Even if Kemba Walker miraculously returns to peak form, Cade still has the edge. He is a much better two-way player and since he has the upside, he will get the ball when he wants it. There isn’t much left to say: the MVP award will go to the best player on the team, and we all know who that is.
