Detroit Pistons: Top-5 teams in franchise history

#3: The 1988-89 Detroit Pistons

This was the year that the Pistons finally won their first championship, defeating the Los Angeles Lakers in a clean sweep after dominating the Eastern Conference, only losing two games through the entire playoffs.

This team was dominant in the regular season as well, winning 63 games in a division featuring Michael Jordan’s Bulls before they reached their dynasty.

This team was led by legendary head coach Chuck Daly and a roster featuring Isiah Thomas, Dennis Rodman, Joe Dumars, and Bill Laimbeer.

This Pistons team focused on team basketball. Boasting a stacked starting five and a deep bench, they had the ability to play at an elite level for the entire 48 minutes of a game.

This is the team that put the Bad Boys on the map.

#2: The 2003-04 championship team

A team that many today still dismiss as a fluke season, this team was used to being slept on even as they defeated the (completely stacked) Los Angeles Lakers in only five games.

The Detroit Pistons completely dominated the Eastern Conference, winning 54 games in the regular season before dominating the playoffs on their way to their third NBA Championship.

This team was headlined by Chauncey Billups, Rip Hamilton, and Ben Wallace and coached by Larry Brown.

This was the peak of the Going to Work Pistons era.
