The Detroit Pistons will return home after a winless road trip to try and get back into the win column against the Atlanta Hawks.
This will be their second back-to-back already in the young season and they will face the Hawks at home twice in the next three days.
The Pistons looked boring and awful against Washington, and once again, their bench was at the heart of it, as they were outscored by 19 points.
It might be time for Dwane Casey to shake up the rotation, but the problem is he doesn’t really have any appealing options at the moment as everyone not named Jalen Duren has been dreadful so far off the bench.
Detroit did beat Atlanta two out of three games last season, and were able to contain Trae Young, so let’s hope that carries over tonight in Little Caesar’s Arena.
Here is everything you need to know.
Detroit Pistons vs Atlanta Hawks: Odds, Spread, Over/Under
According to Fanduel, Detroit is a seven point underdog at home tonight against the Hawks on the second game of a back-to-back. The good news is that only Cade Cunningham played more than 30 minutes last night, so Detroit should still be fresh, especially this early in the season, though the NBA didn’t do them any favors with this schedule.
The money lines are set at +235 for Detroit and -290 for Atlanta, so the Hawks are heavy favorites in this one. They should be well rested after not playing since Sunday, but hopefully they’ll be a bit rusty and Detroit will be able to take advantage early.
The over/under is 229 combined points, which seems very high considering the Pistons didn’t crack 100 last night. I like Detroit to cover and the under.
Pistons injury report
Alec Burks and Marvin Bagley III can’t get back soon enough, as the Detroit bench has been flat-out awful and needs their scoring.
Bogdan Bogdanovic (the other Bogdanovic) is out for the Hawks and Justin Holiday is listed as questionable for tonight’s game.
Detroit Pistons vs. Atlanta Hawks: Prediction
Detroit played well against Atlanta last season, but that was later in the year when things were going well, which they currently are not. The Hawks haven’t played a good team yet and haven’t played since Sunday, so this might be a good time to catch them.
But it’s still hard to predict a Detroit win until we see them play a little better. I hope they respond to a lackluster performance against the Wizards and actually show up tonight, but I fear the result will be the same.
Detroit 105, Atlanta 111
