Detroit Pistons: Cade Cunningham can’t get a call
First off, I am not usually one to complain about the refereeing, as the refs are often made the scapegoats when the truth is that players win and lose games.
The refs didn’t cost the Pistons the game last night, but they certainly didn’t help.
Going back to last season, Cade Cunningham simply cannot get a call, as he was whistled for at least two questionable fouls and got fouled several times with no call, including getting HAMMERED at the rim on a dunk while the ref stood there with his thumb in his rear:
That was not called a foul, but every time the Pistons breathed on Trae Young he was headed to the line. Again, I don’t think the refs cost Detroit this game, but Cade had to sit late with five fouls (more on that in a second), taking away any chance he had for a 40 point night and any chance his team had to stay in the game down the stretch.
At what point is this dude going to start getting some calls? Cade Cunningham has yet to get any kind of star treatment from the refs, in fact, it’s gone the other way if anything, including last season when he was ejected for no reason.
Look, the Pistons shot way more free throws overall, so again, the refs weren’t responsible for this loss, but these non-calls for Cade are getting ridiculous and him being in foul trouble on some dubious calls wrecked what was shaping up to be a very entertaining game.
But I have one more thing to rant about.
