The Detroit Pistons will return home for a matchup against the Cleveland Cavaliers, who are one of the NBA’s hottest teams.
Detroit will go from playing a team that hasn’t lost yet to playing one that has won six in a row since losing on opening night, so this stretch of the schedule is going to be a challenge to say the least.
The Cavaliers are rolling and look like a legit contender since trading for Donovan Mitchell in the offseason. The Pistons are still trying to gel with their young roster that has yet to play at full strength.
Can Detroit buck the odds and get a win at home against a division rival? Here is everything you need to know.
Detroit Pistons vs Cleveland Cavaliers: Odds, Spread, Over/Under
I was actually surprised by how low the spread was in this game, as Fanduel has Detroit as just 6.5 point underdogs at home against Cleveland.
The money lines are set at +225 for Detroit and -275 for Cleveland and the over/under is 222.5 combined points.
The Pistons are coming off two low-scoring games against Milwaukee and are facing another tough defense tonight, so I like the under in this one, though Detroit has been better offensively at home. I don’t see a lot of value here for bettors.
Pistons injury report
Marvin Bagley III and Alec Burks are still out until further notice. Apparently MBIII has started some one-on-one work, but this “minor” injury he suffered is turning out not to be so minor.
The good news is that rookie Jalen Duren has been upgraded to probable, which would be a huge boost to the Detroit front court against the bigger Cavaliers.
Ricky Rubio and Dylan Windler are both out for Cleveland and Donovan Mitchell, Darius Garland and Raul Neto are all listed as day-to-day and questionable for tonight’s game. Check the injury report before the game, as Detroit’s chances of winning go way up if any or all of these guys are out.
Detroit Pistons vs. Cleveland Cavaliers: Prediction
This one is hard to call without knowing who will play for the Cavaliers. If both Garland and Mitchell are out, then I like Detroit to pull off the upset, but if they are both in, I think Cleveland will win a close, low-scoring game.
Detroit 105, Cleveland 110
