Firing Casey won’t move the needle

I’m a firm believer that any move made in life should put you in a better place. Like if a person sells their car, they should then be rolling up in a 2022 with the works. Business is no different, when you make a decision to terminate an employee, especially one as high up as head coach, it’s important to make sure that the move puts the team into a better situation.

It’s not clear at this present time that a new coach could seriously alter this team’s future. Thus, moving the coach hardly even moves the needle forward for the Detroit Pistons. It would more than likely, keep them about where they are or worse divide the players from the front office in a way that could only spell trouble.

As mentioned almost 30 times a week on this site, the Pistons are under construction which means they are nowhere near their final phase. To fire the director of the project before the project finishes is not only reckless, but seemingly useless as all you’re doing is putting an uninformed and unprepared replacement into a situation he isn’t going to be able to amend any slower or faster than his predecessor.

The foundation is laid and fans just need to be patient, though even coach Casey himself knows that isn’t easy.

Coach Casey said two weeks ago according to one report from James Edwards III:

"“No one celebrates when you pour concrete. Everyone is cheering with Pom-poms when the building is finished . We’re pouring concrete right now.”"

It may not look like it now, but coach Casey and the Detroit Pistons are laying the foundations for success and he should be allowed to see that through until it becomes clear he’s lost the team or there is an obvious replacement.
