Detroit Pistons: Possible trade with the LA Clippers

The LA Clippers fall into the same category as Dallas, as almost their entire roster is filled with veteran players making big money that extends past this season.

Unless the Pistons identified a veteran that they thought could be part of their long-term plans, this is another team that is hard to match up with.

Detroit could have some interest in a Luke Kennard reunion but that would require another contract, so they’d be giving up two players for a guy scoring seven points per game who can’t defend me. No thanks.

The Pistons could have some interest in Brandon Boston Jr. or Jason Preston, but even if the Clippers gave up both, I’m not sure that makes either team better. If Detroit could swing this deal, they might consider it:

LA would be getting a rotation player for the cost of two unproven guys who haven’t really played yet and may not be good within the Clippers’ rapidly closing window.

If Troy Weaver could get a future first rounder and a couple of project players, that might be the max return for Saddiq Bey right now, and the Clippers may even view this as too much to give up for a guy shooting 29 percent from 3-point range.

But he would give them some insurance for Kawhi and Paul George, and Bey could thrive off the ball with their playmakers, so who knows.
