Both the Detroit Pistons and Miami Heat have been disappointing for different reasons this season.

Detroit hasn’t made the leap to become a competitive team, and we’ve barely even seen the full squad, as injuries have ravaged their chances.

The Miami Heat were expected to compete for the mediocre Eastern Conference this season (and they still might) but currently have a losing record and are sitting in the 9th seed 8.5 games back of the Celtics.

Both teams are also coming off losses to the Memphis Grizzlies and hope to get back into the win column tonight. Dwane Casey called out his starters after the last game, so will they respond tonight in Miami?

Here is everything you need to know.

Detroit Pistons vs Miami Heat: Odds, Spread, Over/Under

Miami will be on the second game of a back-to-back but Fanduel still has them as 8.5 favorites at home against Detroit. The money lines are +300 for Detroit and -375 for Miami, so the Heat are expected to win this one.

The over/under is a combined 222 points, which seems low but these are two of the worst offenses in the league. Miami also has a good defense, but Detroit has let up 129 points per game over their last three, so you have to decide if the Pistons’ defense is bad enough to get these two teams to the over.

I think it probably is.

Pistons injury report: Is Cade Cunningham out for the season?

We still have no update on Cade Cunningham’s shin other than he will make a decision and the team will stand by it. He needs to do this soon or people are going to start accusing Detroit of leading along their fans to sell tickets. I know this because I’ve already seen people making this accusation.

Isaiah Livers will also be out tonight with a shoulder injury.

Victor Oladipo and Omer Yurtseven will be out for Miami.

Detroit Pistons vs. Miami Heat: Prediction

I hope Detroit responds to their coach and comes out with a little more fire tonight, but Miami will be viewing this as a “must-win” after losing to a shorthanded Memphis team.

The Pistons need to dominate the battle of the benches in this one, but even if they do, I don’t know if they’ll have enough firepower to beat the Heat on the road.

Detroit 111, Miami 114
