The Detroit Pistons will finish their road trip tonight against the San Antonio Spurs in a battle of two of the league’s worst teams.
Both teams are 14th in their respective conferences, though the Pistons have been playing better of late, winning 3-of-5 after blowing a winnable game against he Clippers.
The Spurs have lost three in a row and are officially in Victor Wembanyama tank mode, hoping to land another generational big man with the first pick in the draft.
Detroit is showing some signs of life even without their best player, and when you look at their schedule, you wonder if they really will be in the running for the first pick by the time the season is over.
This is one Detroit would like to win before they play two against the 76ers. So what will happen when the league’s worst two defenses collide in Texas? Here is everything you need to know.
Detroit Pistons vs San Antonio Spurs: Odds, Spread, Over/Under
Detroit is a 1.5 point underdog according to Fanduel. The money lines are +100 for Detroit and -118 for San Antonio and the over under is a combined 233.5 points.
These are the two worst defenses in the NBA, with Detroit on pace to be the worst in franchise history and the Spurs allowing over 120 points per game. Take the over.
Pistons injury report
Cade Cunningham, Isaiah Livers and Marvin Bagley III are still out for the Detroit Pistons, though there are hopefully some signs that Livers is getting closer to returning.
The Spurs will be missing Devin Vassell, and Josh Richardson is questionable. Keita Bates-Diop has been upgraded to probable.
Detroit Pistons vs. San Antonio Spurs: Prediction
Even though they are on the road, this is a game the Pistons should probably win, as the Spurs have lost three in a row, though two of them were close.
Stopping Keldon Johnson will be key, but this could come down to which bench scores the most points, as the Spurs currently lead the league in bench scoring and the Pistons aren’t far behind.
One thing I would like to clear up is the idea that the Pistons bench is “good” because they have the league’s highest offensive rating. They are 27th in net rating, so no, this bench is still not good. It doesn’t matter how many points you score if you allow more.
This should be a high-scoring game, and I like Detroit to steal another one on the road.
Detroit 120, San Antonio 118
