Odds of these Detroit Pistons being traded at the deadline
For the duration of the regular season, the Detroit Pistons will have little else to play for other than the chance at better odds in the Victor Wembanyama sweepstakes. Sure, individuals like Killian Hayes and Jaden Ivey have every reason to continue to keep grinding and developing into better players, but losses matter more than wins do around here nowadays.
We also have the February 9th trade deadline and several Pistons have been mentioned prominently in trade rumors as it approaches. Detroit has repeatedly said they are not interested in trading Bojan Bogdanovic or Alec Burks without a “tremendous return,” but that doesn’t mean they won’t balk once the time comes.
With that said, here are the three Detroit Pistons most likely to be traded before the February 9th deadline and the odds of them being moved.
Detroit Pistons: 3 players most likely to be traded at the deadline
#1 Bojan Bogdanovic-55%
We’ll cut right to the chase on this one and acknowledge that nearly half the league is after the sweet-shooting big man. Shams Charania counts as many as six teams who may meet Detroit’s rumored asking price of an unprotected 1st round pick. The teams on that list are potential championship winners no less, and a deal that sees Bogdanovic end up with the Lakers, Bucks or Mavericks, to name a few, could easily be one in which the major parties all come out on top in the end.
The Detroit Pistons seem to be in a game of chicken with the rest of the league, as teams hope that they will drop the price. The Pistons have said that they won’t, so this one is still 50/50, but if some team gets desperate and makes a blockbuster offer, Bogdanovic’s days in Detroit may be numbered.
#2 Alec Burks-45%
Burks is another vet who has shot his way into the wishes of many. His blistering 45 percent mark from downtown is just one reason he’s going to have the Pistons taking calls on him. Still just 31-years-old and on a reasonable salary, he could bolster any offense in the league. The question is the price. A winning team in the Motor City could easily be one with minutes for the vet come next season, so it’s going to take another franchise getting just a touch desperate for this one to happen.
Burks contract and production may ultimately make him more valuable to the Detroit Pistons than any offer they will receive, so Burks is another one who may not go anywhere at the deadline. There’s also the fact that Detroit could still trade him in the offseason after making adjustments to their roster, so they have no reason to hurry.
#3 Nerlens Noel-75%
A piece of me wants to swing for the fences and say Saddiq Bey here, but I don’t see that – yet. Noel appears to be healthy and could give some important minutes as a backup center in the playoffs. Detroit won’t get much in return, but there’s a general manager somewhere who is prepared to buy some big insurance in the form of the near 7-footer. Of these three players, Noel is probably the most likely to get moved, as he has no role on the Pistons, but his contract won’t make it easy.
