Detroit Pistons: Trade of Saddiq Bey to the New York Knicks

Cam Reddish is a guy that a small subset of Pistons’ fans have been obsessed with for some reason, but he has fallen out of favor with Tom Thibodeau and has only appeared in 20 games this season.

Reddish is a guy the Detroit Pistons could give a tryout and if things don’t work, he walks at the end of the season. I am tired of taking flyers on first-round busts, but Reddish is not the main part of the deal, more like a long shot lottery ticket attached to it.

The real prize would be the first-round pick, so a deal like this would really come down to whether Troy Weaver thought he could find a better player or better fit with a pick in the mid to late first round of the 2023 NBA Draft.

Draft big boards are still being constructed, but players like Dariq Whitehead from Duke or Maxwell Lewis from Pepperdine are ones that fall into that range and could give the Detroit Pistons a boost on the wing.

This would also potentially give the Pistons ammunition for a big offseason trade, as they currently do not have a first-round pick to trade until the one they owe the Knicks is conveyed.

It would be a risk for the Pistons, as they somewhat know what they have in Saddiq Bey, while any player taken in the draft is a crapshoot that could turn out to be a bust.

But if the Pistons do decide that Bey is not a great fit or part of their future plans, getting a first-round pick for him would be about as good as they could hope for, so this is a deal Troy Weaver would consider depending on how he views Bey’s future in the Motor City.
