Detroit Pistons trade deadline: Don’t rule out the New York Knicks

The Pistons were involved in a trade rumor with the Knicks centered around Cam Reddish, but that ended last night when the Knicks moved Reddish in a package for Josh Hart.

Hart is a player I have long wanted in Detroit, and you can’t rule it out, as he’ll potentially be a free agent this offseason (he has a player option) and would be a nice addition to a team that needs defense and energy on the wing.

That doesn’t necessarily mean the Pistons won’t strike a deal with the Knicks, who have been rumored to be interested in Saddiq Bey. The Knicks still have multiple first-round picks this year, including the one owed to them by the Pistons.

The pick is heavily protected, and eventually turns into a second rounder if not conveyed, so the Knicks might feel like moving it now would be smarter than waiting around, especially if they take a look at the Pistons and think they could be bad again for several years. Even with Hart on board, I wouldn’t rule out a trade with the Knicks, as they seem to be collecting players from Villanova with Jalen Brunson and Josh Hart already on board.

Detroit Pistons: A near 3-way deal with the Suns and Atlanta?

GMs around the league were working overtime last night, and it appeared that Troy Weaver was on the cusp of something with the Suns and Hawks before Phoenix was able to swing the trade for Durant.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN:

"“The Suns had been talking with Detroit about the possibility of acquiring Collins in a three-way deal with Atlanta, but Ishbia wouldn’t call it a night without making one more run at Durant.”"

This is worded awkwardly, but I assume it was Collins going to Phoenix, potentially Bogdanovic going to Atlanta and a few picks and contracts headed to Detroit. This could have been the “Durant-lite” deal with the Pistons getting Cam Johnson, Jae Crowder and a pick.

This rumor shows that the Pistons’ stance on Bogdanovic may just be posturing after all, but obviously the Suns moved on to bigger fish.

But if you believe in conspiracies or are listening to the rumors, there is another possible deal out there for the Pistons.
