Detroit Pistons trade rumor

Fans were watching the Pistons’ rotation last night in their ugly loss to Cleveland, especially when Alec Burks didn’t start, with Killian Hayes in his place.

Burks only ended up playing 16 minutes off the bench last night, which some fans speculated was because he was going to be moved at some point. That’s possible, but Burks was 1-of-10 last night in those limited minutes, so it’s also possible (and far more likely) that he was on the bench because he stunk.

Detroit also dusted off the corpse of Nerlens Noel for two airballs, so not much of a showcase there, and it’s far more likely he just came in because Jalen Duren picked up some early fouls.

But the Burks conspiracy could have some legs, as beat reporter James Edwards III said in an interview last night that he did think the Detroit Pistons were going to make a move and that the Bucks were a team to watch:

Given that the Bucks seemingly don’t have the package of players or picks (the next one they can trade is in 2029) for Bojan Bogdanovic, a deal for Alec Burks seems more likely. We’ve outlined a few of them during trade season, and the Bucks do have one young player in Marjon Beauchamp who may interest the Pistons, so they are a team to watch today.

Detroit has been quiet so far, but we know Troy Weaver is going to explore every option until the deadline passes today at 3PM ET today.
