It seems hard to believe, but the Detroit Pistons only have 23 games remaining in the 2022-23 season, which has been another disappointing one.

The Pistons currently have the worst record in the Eastern Conference and third-worst overall, which is not where they were hoping to be coming into the season. Cade Cunningham’s injury quickly squashed that hope and the Pistons are left looking up at teams like the Orlando Magic, who are creeping towards the play-in tournament, where many thought Detroit might be this season.

Troy Weaver will head into this offseason with a lot of questions lingering over his roster and a lot of work to do, as his seat may start to get warm next season if the Detroit Pistons don’t make some kind of progress in the win column.

It’s unlikely that the final 23 games will be the deciding factor when Weaver is making his decisions this offseason, but this is the last chance for some of the players and coaches to make a final impression. So who is under the most pressure to perform in the home stretch?

Detroit Pistons: Who is under the most pressure?

Coach Dwane Casey

Atlanta was the first team to fire their head coach, recently parting ways with Nate McMillan. There are some oddsmakers who think Casey will be next, though the team has given no indication what their plans are this offseason.

We know the arguments at this point: Casey has had some success in player development but the team as a whole hasn’t improved and the defense has actually gotten worse. He has one year left on his deal, so the Pistons would have to eat that money if they were to fire Casey this offseason.

There are some intriguing names on the coaching market and Troy Weaver may decide that now is the time to get a new voice in the huddle. If the team were to completely give up on the coach or continue to get blown out game after game in these final 23, it might help Weaver make his decision, though it is likely that he already knows what he is going to do one way or another.
