The Detroit Pistons will take on the Charlotte Hornets tonight at Little Caesar’s Arena and will once again feature a depleted rotation.

The Pistons are the NBA’s worst team, while the Hornets have gotten some separation, though they are still second-worst in the Eastern Conference, 5.5 games ahead of Detroit.

The Pistons have had the injury bug all season, starting with losing Cade Cunningham, but recently they’ve been missing 6-7 players per game as they try to tank away the rest of the season.

But the injuries have been costly in terms of development and chemistry, as some of their young guys have had to miss time, and they’ve not gotten to see how some of them might fit on the floor together, particularly the centers.

The Pistons will be shorthanded again tonight, though they have gotten some positive news for the matchup vs. Charlotte.

Detroit Pistons injuries: Will Jalen Duren play vs. the Charlotte Hornets?

Let’s face it, there aren’t a whole lot of reasons to watch a game between the East’s two worst teams, especially when Detroit has so many players out. Here are the players who are definitely out tonight according to the official injury report:

  • Alec Burks
  • Bojan Bogdanovic
  • Isaiah Stewart
  • Hamidou Diallo
  • Cade Cunningham

We expected to see Burks and Bogdanovic with “injuries” at this point in the season, as sitting your veterans is tanking 101, but it would be nice to get Stewart more reps this season, and it’s a shame that Hamidou Diallo may have played his last game in Detroit after being ruled out for the season with an ankle injury.

However, both Jalen Duren and Killian Hayes have been upgraded to probable, which is great, as both could use the run and have things to play for. Hayes is trying to get himself an extension this summer, while Duren has individual accolades at stake against fellow rookie center Mark Williams, who recently overtook Duren in the rookie rankings.

It would also be nice to get a first glimpse of Duren playing with James Wiseman, something fans have been looking forward to since Wiseman was acquired in the Saddiq Bey trade.

It looks like the Detroit Pistons are getting some players back which is exciting for a fanbase that doesn’t have a ton to cheer for right now.
