10 best duos in Detroit Pistons’ history

#1: Isiah Thomas & Joe Dumars

Was there a doubt in your mind who would be at the top of this list? The Isiah Thomas-Joe Dumars backcourt racked up countless accolades on their way to back-to-back NBA championships. Their individual games were perfectly matched. Thomas was a vocal leader, and relentlessly attacked the defense. Dumars led by example, great off the ball but excellent at running the point in his own right.

They played their first game together in 1985, their last in 1994. In between, they won an incredible amount of basketball games together. Some may have been meaningless preseason exercises, others, marginally important regular season battles; we remember those playoff games. We remember the wars with the Celtics, Lakers and Bulls. It was Thomas and Dumars that led carried the heaviest weights on their shoulders, and were known for talking game over the phone deep into the night. Both retired having spent their entire careers with the franchise.

The heart and soul of the Bad Boys will be very difficult to ever top in the pantheon of great Pistons duos.
