With just 10 games remaining in the season, the Detroit Pistons are in last place and the team stock is in the gutter.
Some of the other tankers have been able to string together some wins in the late season, but not Detroit, who continues to pile up losses with a shorthanded lineup that screams “WE ARE TRYING TO LOSE.”
It’s not just that there have been copious injuries, but there have also been plenty of “injuries” that have kept veterans on the bench in the home stretch.
All for a 14 perfect chance of drafting Victor Wembanyama, which as small as it seems, is what many fans have pinned their future hopes on.
Detroit Pistons stock market: The home stretch
As ugly it has been in the standings, there have been some bright spots over the last few weeks, as certain players have started to get it going, while others have been slumping or unavailable.
It’s not a great way to end the season, as the Detroit Pistons are not getting to build any chemistry with their young players and many of them are missing out on valuable developmental time, which is especially important when trying to make decisions about the future.
The season has gone by quickly and I’m not sure we know any more about what this roster is going to look like next year than we did when it started.
The NBA Draft Lottery can’t get here soon enough, but there are still 10 games left for players to make an impression heading into the most important offseason of Troy Weaver’s tenure.
