Detroit Pistons: 3 most disappointing players this season
Detroit Pistons: 3 most disappointing players this season
Killian Hayes
Pistons’ fans have debated ad nauseam about Killian Hayes this season and it’s getting tedious. To summarize: His defense and passing are ok, but Hayes can’t shoot.
I was not expecting Hayes to suddenly evolve into an All-Star this season, and do still think he’ll be a quality backup point guard at some point, but it’s hard to look at his season and say it’s not disappointing.
It’s not just the shooting, which we knew was a work in progress, but Killian’s whole approach can be very frustrating at times.
Does anyone else get sick of watching him walk the ball up the court? This is a small thing, but it symbolizes the lack of urgency that his game often has. Hayes looks too casual, at times, like he is coasting through the game while thinking about something else. I don’t need a guy to constantly throw himself on the floor or give “show” effort, and I know Killian does have a bit of “glide” to his game, but there are times when he needs to play faster.
Of course, there are times when he ratchets up the defense or makes an unbelievable pass on offense, but far too often he is just going through the motions out there and outside of a few weeks, he’s just been bad this season.
I am not a Killian “hater” and genuinely want the guy to succeed with the Detroit Pistons, but we need to see more intensity, aggressiveness and focus out of him next season, or it will probably be his last in the Motor City.
