Detroit Pistons: Players who definitely shouldn’t be back next season
Eugene Omoruyi and RJ Hampton
The Detroit Pistons signed both Omoruyi and Hampton to contacts that have team options for next season.
You could make an argument that Detroit might be best served by just waiving those options and offering these two guys their two-way contracts for next season, as we at least know they can fulfill emergency duty.
Of the two, Omoruyi is most likely to stay, as he did flash some decent defense and rebounding, and is one of those guys who always seems to be in a spot to make a play.
But he can’t shoot, and the Pistons had the lowest field goal percentage in the NBA this season, so they need an upgrade in that area.
Hampton shot the ball decently as a Piston, but didn’t do much else, as he looked lost a lot of the time and never really got up to speed with his new team.
The Pistons are more likely to go with a veteran for that final guard spot, so Hampton will likely be the odd man out.
