Detroit Pistons: Players who definitely shouldn’t be back next season
Detroit Pistons: Players who definitely shouldn’t be back next season
Rodney McGruder
McGruder is an interesting case, as he stepped in and played well when he was called upon this season.
He’s a solid bench guy who stays ready and is a good mentor, but if the Pistons want to improve next year they need more players on the bench competing for minutes, not offering advice.
McGruder did shoot 42 percent from long range this season, so if Detroit has an open bench spot, he could be considered for a return, but otherwise, it’s time to get a more talented player in that spot.
Hamidou Diallo
It pains me to write this one, as Diallo was one of the most entertaining Pistons this season and really carved out a nice role for himself as an energy bench guy.
But he still can’t shoot, and the Detroit Pistons can’t afford to have wings who can’t shoot, especially if they are actually planning on using two bigs (please god no) next season.
Detroit needs 3-and-D wings, but Diallo is missing part of the equation and his defense is not good enough to make up for his complete lack of outside shot.
