Detroit Pistons: 3 under-the-radar free agents to watch in the playoffs

Harrison Barnes

Harrison Barnes is not a name you hear much in discussions of top free agents this summer but he’s been a solid role player for the Kings as they finally ended their playoff drought and put the Pistons on the clock as the team with the longest active streak of failing to win a playoff game.

Barnes is another versatile wing defender who can shoot, as he’s been a consistent 15+ point per game scorer for the last seven seasons and shoots a high percentage from behind-the-arc.

De’Aaron Fox and Domantas Sabonis get most of the attention for the Kings, but Barnes is just as important to their success this season. He didn’t have a great game one, with just 13 points and seven rebounds, but he has been solid all season and for most of his career.

He played in all 82 games, which is something the injury-riddled Pistons could use and he has the size to defend a couple of positions.

Barnes’ shooting and defense would make him a solid fit with the Detroit Pistons’ young guards, and he’d give them the kind of younger veteran that they need as they try to improve around a young core.

The catch is his next contract, as Barnes is 30-years-old and the Pistons don’t want to go into deep money or years, but at the right price, Barnes would be a great addition.
