Former Detroit Pistons thriving and bombing in the NBA Playoffs
For the 4th straight season, the Detroit Pistons failed to make the NBA Playoffs.
Let’s face it, they haven’t sniffed the playoffs since Dwane Casey’s first season as coach, and are now headed into the offseason looking for a new leader and some better talent on the roster.
The Pistons have won a playoff game in 15 years, the longest streak in the NBA now that the Kings finally got a win this season.
But there are plenty of former Detroit Pistons in the playoffs, some of whom are riding the bench, others who are thriving and some whose playoff run has been a flop so far.
It’s still very early in the playoffs, so some of these guys will have a chance to turn things around while others will be swept out and watching the rest of the action from their sofas.
Let’s start with the players who are not playing at all or who were left off their team’s playoff roster entirely.
Former Detroit Pistons in the playoffs
The Bench Warmers
Luka Garza: Garza did see some action in one of the play-in games, but did not make the Timberwolves’ final playoff roster.
Saben Lee: Lee was also left off the Suns’ playoff roster.
Marcus Morris: Morris is on the Clippers’ playoff roster but has yet to step on the floor in their two games.
Blake Griffin: Blake Griffin has been relegated to cheerleader in Boston’s first two blowout wins over Atlanta and has yet to log a playoff minute.
Derrick Rose: This one is surprising given that the 34-year-old can still get a bucket and he’s a favorite of Thibs, but Rose has yet to step on the floor in two games for the Knicks.
