3 Detroit Pistons who raised their trade value in 2022-23
Detroit Pistons who raised their trade value in 2022-23
Bojan Bogdanovic
Bojan Bogdanovic was one of the top names being mentioned at this season’s trade deadline and the rumors were flying, connecting him to just about every playoff team.
In the end, the Pistons didn’t trade Bogdanovic, and Troy Weaver instead promised him that he was part of their future plans and that the team was going to be “great next year.”
That remains to be seen, as does Bogdanovic’s future with this team, as he is coming off the best season of his career and the Detroit Pistons could use an upgrade of athleticism and defense on the wing, potentially making this offseason the best time to trade him.
Bogdanovic averaged 21.6 points per game, showed he can carry an offense (albeit a bad one) at times and narrowly missed joining the 50/40/90 club, which is the pinnacle for shooters.
The Pistons also (very cleverly) locked Bogdanovic into an extension, so he is under contract for next season at a reasonable cost and has another season that is not fully guaranteed, meaning teams could get out from under the deal if he doesn’t pan out.
This makes him a potentially valuable trade asset for the Pistons this offseason, as teams looking for scoring punch can add Bogdanovic without breaking the bank or going into long-term obligation without him being an outright rental.
Yes, he is 34-years-old, but after showing he can still score at a high rate, teams will be willing to take a risk that he has two more seasons (at least) left in the tank. He’s the Pistons’ best trade asset this summer and a guy we could see moved if Detroit finds the right deal or needs a bigger salary to match.
