Ranking the Detroit Pistons top 10 trade assets for 2023-24

#3: The 2nd pick in the 2023 NBA Draft

If the Detroit Pistons were to land the #2 pick in the NBA Draft then a lot of trade possibilities would be on the table, as many view Scoot Henderson as a future star. Even though he’s only played in the G-League, Henderson’s ceiling is viewed as higher than Ivey’s, so if the Pistons got this pick, I am sure there would be plenty of teams calling with trade offers.

#4: Jaden Ivey

Jaden Ivey is going to make the All-Rookie team and finished 6th in the Rookie of the Year voting after a strong rookie season in which he improved in many areas. It’s hard to see the Detroit Pistons trading him unless they decided that a Scoot pairing was better and tried to move Ivey for a wing. An up and coming 20-year-old who has shown signs of stardom and is on a rookie deal would be a valuable commodity, though Ivey likely isn’t going anywhere.

#5: Jalen Duren

Like Ivey, Duren is now viewed as a foundational piece of the Pistons’ future after an outstanding and somewhat surprising rookie season. Duren is the league’s youngest player, but didn’t look it, as his rebounding and passing are already ahead of schedule and he was often the biggest guy on the floor. Even though the Pistons have a plethora of big men right now, it’s hard to imagine a scenario in which they would trade Duren, who looks like one of the steals of last year’s draft. It would only happen if Detroit were trading for a star and even then, probably not, but Duren would be a valuable trade asset.

#6: Pick 3-5 in the 2023 NBA Draft

If the Pistons were to drop into the 3-5 range in the 2023 NBA Draft, then a trade is far more likely, although they’d probably just take Brandon Miller with the 3rd pick. I don’t think picks four or five are as valuable in this draft as they have been in the past, as there are a lot of players of similar talent in the 5-10 range. But the Pistons could definitely package that pick in a trade for a player, so it would still have a lot of value in a bigger deal.
