Ranking the Detroit Pistons top 10 trade assets for 2023-24

#9: The 31st pick in the 2023 NBA Draft

The Detroit Pistons also own the 31st pick in the 2023 NBA Draft, which could end up being a fairly valuable asset as a sweetener in a trade. Given the parity in this draft, this pick could net a good player or could be used to grease the wheels of a trade.

#10: Marvin Bagley III and Killian Hayes

Can I interest anyone in $20 million worth of underachieving players? All kidding aside, trading Marvin Bagley III would alleviate some of the logjam at center and allow the Pistons to better balance their roster. But he’s owed $25 million guaranteed over the next two seasons and can’t stay on the court, so MBIII won’t be bringing back a haul in a trade. The Pistons would likely have to attach an asset to get anything of value or take back a similarly onerous contract.

Same with Killian Hayes, who also has potential that he hasn’t realized yet. He’s still got plenty of time to become a quality backup in the NBA and some team might take a risk on that, but they wouldn’t likely give up much to do it, as Hayes will be on the final year of his contract and was the worst shooter in the NBA this season.

Most of these players are not going to be traded, but if the Detroit Pistons fall in the draft, we could see a lot of action this offseason.
