Detroit Pistons: The 2023 draft pick could force trades

#2 pick, Scoot Henderson

Let’s just assume for a second that the Detroit Pistons would draft Scoot Henderson with the 2nd pick if they were lucky enough to get it.

A lot of people have talked about the fact that the Pistons already have two ball-dominant young guards in Cade Cunningham and Jaden Ivey, with another young guard in Killian Hayes.

I see no problem with the fit between Cunningham, Ivey and Henderson, as they don’t all have to play together and having three guys who can make plays is a good thing. Detroit can find a way to make it work just by bringing one of them (Ivey) off the bench.

But what about Killian Hayes? Hayes’ future with the team is already hanging on by a thread, so adding another guard who would be ahead of him on the depth chart could be the thing that ends his time in Detroit.

The Pistons wouldn’t want four young guards and no veterans, so trading Hayes and adding a veteran third point guard type would make a ton of sense.

Hayes may get traded anyway, but if the Detroit Pistons draft Scoot, it may be a done deal.
