Detroit Pistons: 3 offseason scenarios with the top-3 picks

#1: Victor Wembanyama

Getting the number one pick and landing Victor Wembanyama eases all concerns about fit, as he would slide right into the power forward spot immediately for the Pistons.

Wembanyama changes the team into a play-in contender immediately, so there is no reason not to grab the best possible free agents and go for it. His height does raise some injury concerns, so there is no reason to waste time.

Go sign Jerami Grant and another defensive veteran on a cheap deal and go into the season ready to compete:

  • Cade Cunningham/Killian Hayes/Jevon Carter
  • Jaden Ivey/Alec Burks/Yuta Watanabe
  • Jerami Grant/Bojan Bogdanovic/Isaiah Livers
  • Victor Wembanyama/Isaiah Stewart
  • Jalen Duren/James Wiseman/Marvin Bagley III

Just inject this into my veins.

This team has playmaking, size, defense and shooting (I threw in Yuta Watanabe and Jevon Carter for good measure), and a great mixture of veterans and youth. There is still obviously a potential trade to be made out of the big man group, but that is a talented, deep team that could definitely compete for the play-in at least right away.

Any of these scenarios would give the Detroit Pistons an exciting team with a lot of potential, so let’s hope that 40.1 percent chance pans out.
