The Detroit Pistons have a busy and important offseason in front of them that will hopefully help change the course of the franchise after four straight seasons of futility.

The Pistons are reportedly closing in on their next head coach, as owner Tom Gores is having meetings with the three finalists and a decision could come as early as tomorrow.

With the NBA Draft Lottery just around the corner, the Pistons may want to get their coach in place so that person has some input on the draft process, as well as free agency.

Detroit Pistons news: All-NBA teams and Jaylen Brown

Yesterday the NBA announced the players who made the All-NBA teams this season and there were a few surprises.

I did not expect Shai Gilgeous-Alexander to make the first team even though he had an outstanding season for the Thunder and helped get them into the play-in tournament.

There were also some glaring omissions from the team that bring up some questions about the voting. Both Devin Booker and Kevin Durant were left off after playing 53 and 47 games, respectively, but Stephen Curry, who only played 56 games, was voted onto the second team.

LeBron Hames played just 55 games and made the second team.

Next season, none of these players would be eligible for postseason awards after failing to play at least 65 games.

The entire 3rd team is suspect, and I’m pretty sure the 2nd team would beat the 1st in a 7-game series, so as always, there is plenty to argue about.

Another interesting piece of the puzzle is Jaylen Brown making 2nd-team All-NBA and raising his pay ceiling considerably in the process. It will now cost the Celtics nearly $300 million to retain him in a super max deal, which they may not want to do if they fail to make the Eastern Conference Finals and with Jayson Tatum’s extension on the horizon.

Does that make Brown potential available in a trade? It’s unlikely that the Detroit Pistons would have what it takes to trade for him (more on that later today) but if Brown hits the market, they have to at least make a phone call.
